This refurbishment project involved the complete reconstruction of a house, preserving its street-facing facade.
The lot is located in an older area of the city, shares walls with other long, narrow lots, with only a short street frontage. Given the lot's shape, the challenge was to create a versatile living, dining, and kitchen space that would also provide greater ventilation and natural light, thanks to a small patio and a roof window.
Elements of the original house, such as the wooden doors and trim, were maintained and reconstructed. At the client's suggestion, the concrete structural reinforcement was left in its natural color, contrasting with the old white walls. The staircase to the upper floor was rebuilt and kept in its original position, but the adjacent walls were removed to provide more space for the living area. With the purpose of tourist accommodation, the challenge of this project was to provide three double bedrooms with the necessary amenities and comfort for a vacation on a limited lot, while ensuring a spacious, naturally lit, and versatile kitchen and dining area.
